Description of halal at our slaughterhouse in Aars

Danpo farms 100 % Danish chickens that are both raised and slaughtered in Denmark. You can rely on high quality - unlike many imported chickens in the chiller cabinet, which come from countries where food safety management and traceability do not match the standards of Danish agriculture.

All our chickens are halal slaughtered at our slaughterhouse in Aars. Halal slaughter follows the common slaughter tradition in Denmark. Prior to killing, the chickens are stunned and the only difference in halal slaughter is that a prayer is recited. Our slaughter process is monitored by the veterinary authorities and is approved by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.

We sell Danish chickens to most of the world to make the best use of the chicken and thus contribute to a more sustainable production. Most of these customers want the chicken to be halal.

Some of the products we sell to markets outside Denmark are chicken cuts - such as feet, gums and wings - that are not used in Denmark. If we didn't export our Danish chickens, it would result in higher prices, which neither we nor consumers want.

By producing halal, we can maintain a Danish slaughterhouse in Aars with hundreds of jobs and important export revenues.

Free-range and organic chickens are slaughtered at Rokkedahl's slaughterhouse in Himmerland and are therefore not comparable with the halal description from Aars. Instead, please refer to Rokkedahl's website and their description of production.
