Danpo's history go back many years...

Commercial farming of broiler chickens began in the 1950's, and with that a large number of small abattoirs were born. The story of Danpo is the classic tale of how a number of companies joined together in ever larger units to draw the benefits from economics of scale.

 

1972

 

Abattoirs in Vamdrup, Randers, Svendborg and Ringsted as well as at Rønne on Bornholm, merge as Danpo AmbA (Danish Poultry).

1975

 

 

Danpo Amba goes into administration. Reconstructed as Danpo A/S with, among others, KFK, DLG and Danpo AmbA (the producers) as shareholders

 

1977

 

 

Danpo acquires KFK Fjerkræ in Aars. A number of abattoirs are closed in the 1980's-1990's.

 

1990

 

 

Danpo takes over Farre Food at Give.

 

1995

 

 

SPO - Scandinavian Poultry Industry acquires Danpo A/S.

 

1996

 

 

Danish consumers are for the first time offered salmonella-free chicken. The strategy is to be leading within food safety.

 

2000

 

 

The processing factory in Farre is opened. Frying and breading of chicken for freezing.

 

2003

 

 

Spira (Sweden) acquires Struer in Denmark.

 

2005

 

 

Lantmännen (Sweden) acquires Spira. Spira changes name to Kronfågel Holding.

 

2007

 

 

The slaughterhouse in Farre is closed - continued focus on processing.

 

2009

 

The abattoir in Aars is modernised and expanded - total investment of over 110 million DDK.

 

2011

 

 Investment of 60 million DKK in the processing factory at Farre.

2013

 

Part of the new Nordic chicken enterprise - Scandi Standard - with approximately 5 billion DKK in yearly turnover: Danpo (DK), Kronfågel (S), Cardinal Foods (N). 

 

Today Danpo is a part of Scandinavia's largest producer of poultry!
